Chelsea’s perfect start to the WSL Spring Series continued as they eased to a 4-0 victory against Reading at Adam’s Park.
A dominant first half display from the visitors saw them rattle the crossbar in the opening exchanges, before Karen Carney opened the scoring with a confident header on 32 minutes.
Ramona Bachmann looked to add to the Blue’s tally but saw herself denied by a well executed Harriet Scott tackle and a save from keeper Mary Earps.
Eni Aluko and Karen Carney both had chances to put the game to bed after the break, but were unable to beat Earps in the Reading goal.
Reading defended valiantly, but were finally breached as Chelsea scored twice in five minutes to seal the win.
Drew Spence showed composure to finish off a well timed pass from Bachmann, sidefooting home from close range.
Just minutes later substitute Ji-So Yun was able to make an immediate impact scoring with an emphatic strike inside the box.
The game was wrapped up nine minutes from time when Hannah Blundell seized upon a Reading defensive error to add Chelsea’s fourth.
Reading were nearly able to force a consolation goal at the death, but were unlucky as Kirsty McGee’s failed to convert her chance as Chelsea moved to the top of FA WSL 1.

Chelsea Ladies forward Eni Aluko:
"I think it was a dominant performance in the end, I think it’s a great result against a much improved Reading team.
"I think we showed our physical levels today, we’ve all worked really hard over the pre-season now and its showing. To win 4-0 against Reading today is a great result , so I’m really pleased.
"Our press was good, we turned them over in midfield and up front and it led to goals. All over the pitch today, we were better."
Reading Women forward Kirsty Linnett:
"We really try and play here, we are really trying to do the right things and we play some good football in spells.
"We just want to keep improving on that side, but just need to tidy up at the back and keep the goals out, that’s two times we’ve conceded four.
"Credit to the girls, they really try and play and do the right things at the right time, and that it what the spring series is all about, its about trying to do the right thing and keeping on improving and keeping going."
